AUTOMATIC VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEMS AVI An Automatic Vehicle Identification System requires an individually encoded ID "Tag" to be placed on each vehicle. The tag is read by a reader or transmitting/receiving antenna as the vehicle passes by.
