GATES: FENCE Fence gates of all types; chain link, wooden, or aluminum framed, can be opened or closed either by swinging or sliding by the use of a motorized operator. The width of the opening and weight of the gate determine the size of the gate operator. The most common motor sizes are ½, ¾, and 1 horsepower. Voltages range from 120V single-phase to 460V three-phase. Vertical Pivot Gates (like the one shown above) open by pivoting on one corner. These hydraulic gates are very quick and are not bothered by heat, cold, wind or snow. The slide gate operator pulls the gate open or closed through the use of a roller chain attached to each end of the fence gate or by an aluminum rail attached to the fence gate which passes through a set of drive rollers.
